Schurke, Inspector. Inspector Schurke was created by the Italian author Romualdo Natoli and appeared in L’Uomo e la Folla (1941), Il Marchio di Giuda (1941) and Il Mistero del Poligono (1943).

Inspector Schurke is a German police inspector. He is a Nazi and anti-Semite who is active in Berlin in 1933, in Vienna in 1939, and in Vichy France in 1940. Schurke is a brilliant, arrogant, educated man who loathes the Jews, the French, Slavs, and the English. (The novels confirm Schurke’s bigotries).
