Savignon, Inspector. Inspector Savignon was created by “Jules Stephane,” the pseudonym of the Belgian author Jules Watelet, and appeared in six stories and four novels from 1941 to 1944, beginning with “Meurtre a Copenhagen” (Le Jury Fascicule #5, 1941).

Inspector Savignon is a French police inspector modeled on Jules Maigret. Savignon is melancholy and very human, and uses psychological insight into human personality to solve crimes.
