Sarutobi Sasuke. In Japanese folklore Sarutobi Sasuke was one of the “Ten Heroes of Sanada,” ten ninja bodyguards who supposedly assisted the samurai Sanada Yukimura (1567-1615) during the Sengoku period. In 1913 a fictional version of Sarutobi Sasuke appeared in the historical novels of the Japanese Tachikawa Bunko library; he appeared in numerous Tachikawa Bunko novels until 1925.

The fictional Sarutobi Sasuke is a Superhuman, capable of marvelous feats of agility (his nickname is “Leaps Like a Monkey”), strength, and various other mystical arts. He helps the Kōga ninja and Sanada Yukimura fight against their enemies.
