Sark, Mortimer. Mortimer Sark was created by John Hawk and appeared in five novels from 1926 to 1929, beginning with The Lone Lodge Mystery.
Mortimer Sark is an English consulting detective: “...the celebrated Mortimer Sark, whose name was a by-word in the criminal annals of the United Kingdom and whose services as sleuth were so often called in where the experts of Scotland Yard had failed; which did not hinder the Yard from looking friendlily on him. There had always been accord between them; and generous to a fault, Sark had never tried to monopolise the honours of the quest.” Sark is a small man with keen grey eyes, the air of authority, and a penetrating gaze. He has a whimsical sense of humor.
