Sah-Jin. Sah-Jin was created by Walter C. Brown (Stephen Harper) and appeared in four stories in Black Mask in 1942 and 1943, beginning with “The Parrot That Wouldn’t Talk” (Black Mask, Jan. 1942).
Sergeant Dennis “Sah-Jin” O’Hara works for the Chinatown squad. He is hard-boiled and has “hair-trigger wits” and “tireless patience and bulldog tenacity,” but has little respect for the Chinese. He is assisted by Detective Faraday.
