Russell, Franklin. Franklin Russell was created by Richard M. Baker and appeared in Death Stops the Manuscript (1936), Death Stops the Rehearsal (1937), and Death Stops the Bells (1938).

Franklin Russell is a schoolmaster at a “well-known college preparatory school for boys,” but his heart is in criminology, and he studies “criminological works, methods of police procedure, and abnormal psychology” (in addition to the news and mystery novels) every moment he gets. He is best friends with Detective-Sergeant McCoun of the Newton Police Department, and the two help each other solve various cases.
