Rostetter, Tommy. Tommy Rostetter was created by Alice Campbell (Inspector Headcorn, Colin Ladbroke) and appeared in four novels from 1932 to 1948, beginning with The Click of the Gate.

Tommy Rostetter is a reporter, active in Paris:

A journalist of talent and vagrant habits, he drifted hither and yon, questing unusual copy. Recent exposures in diplomatic circles had called down thunder on his head, and there were pompous notables in the Chambre des Deputés–aye, and in the English Cabinet, too–who regarded him as a loathesome gadfly; but the cloud under which he rested had not disturbed his cheerful grin, and outwardly he remained...impudent, picaresque, and a bit of a brigand.
