Rolfe, Simon. Simon Rolfe was created by Joseph Bonney and appeared in Death By Dynamite (1940) and Murder Without Clues (1940).

Simon Rolfe is a Great Detective modeled on Sherlock Holmes. Rolfe has thin lips and a hawk-like face, lives in Greenwich Village, experiments with chemicals in his apartment, wears a mouse-colored dressing gown and sprawls in an armchair when not on a case. He is Watsoned by Henry F. Watson, a writer and Rolfe’s roommate. Rolfe’s Lestrade is Inspector Charles King, who dislikes Rolfe’s Holmesian pretensions and twits him about them, although King respects Rolfe and consults with him on difficult cases.
