Ringrose, John. John Ringrose was created by Eden Phillpotts (The Bat (I)) and appeared in "The Voice from the Dark" (Popular Magazine, May 20-July 7, 1924; as a novel, 1925) and The Marylebone Miser (1926).

John Ringrose is a retired Scotland Yard detective, bluff and cheerful, who solves crimes while traveling as a tourist. He is “a brisk man of five and fifty; with spare and active habit and build. His clean-shaven countenance attracted by its genial and kind expression; his shrewd eyes revealed a twinkle of humor in them.”
