Richardson, Inspector. Inspector Richardson was created by Basil Thomson (Peter Graham, Mr. Pepper) and appeared in eight novels from 1933 to 1937, beginning with P.C. Richardson’s First Case.

Richardson begins as a humble Scotland Yard P.C. and works his way up to Superintendent, solving murder cases and espionage-related crimes around western England. Some of his colleagues resent his relatively rapid rise at the Yard, but Richardson is humble, puts on no airs, always gives credit to everyone involved in a case, and is happy to learn from those below and above him.
