Rice, Karl. Karl Rice was created by the Mexican creator Alfonso Tirado (El Alacrán, Frankenstein, Huapactzin, MoabMoctezuma, Dick MorganOceyolotl, Phantom Thief (II), Pirate Queen (III)) and appeared in the comic strip “Águilas Héroicas” (Pepín, Aug 4, 1938-Jan 12, 1939).

During World War One Karl Rice is a heroic German aviator, “who by his courage and daring is the idol of his regiment.” His plane is shot down in combat and he is imprisoned in France. He escapes, but his beautiful girlfriend Marlene is imprisoned in Switzerland, forcing Rice to go to Switzerland under a Swiss passport, thereby running the risk of being arrested for spying.
