Renwick, Gifford. Gifford Renwick was created by Albert Dorrington and appeared in “The Radium Terrors” (The Scrap Book, Jan-Aug 1911); the serial was published as The Radium Terrors (1912).

Gifford Renwick is an investigator for the International Inquiry Bureau. He is called in to investigate the disappearance of some radium. Renwick is caught by the thief and radium is put into his eyes. Because of this he will go blind shortly unless he can consult with one man, Dr. Tsarka, a Japanese doctor and Yellow Peril. Dr. Tsarka is part of a band of Japanese criminals who blind victims with radium and then extort great sums of money to cure them. Never fear, though—good triumphs over evil in the end.
