Renault, Robert. Robert Renault was created by William Bruckner and Robert F. Metzler and appeared in the film Dr. Renault’s Secret (1942).

Robert Renault is an Evil Surgeon Mad Scientist. A young American doctor, Larry Forbes, arrives in a remote French village as the guest of Robert Renault. Forbes arrives at the same time that a brutal murder has taken place. Forbes meets Renault’s pretty niece, Madeline, and Renault’s apelike servant Noel. Forbes eventually discovers that Noel is apelike because he was once an ape and that Renault is insane and used mad science to transform an ape into a man. Further, Noel is violent and is responsible for the murders taking place. But justice is eventually served for all concerned.
