Reed, Rufe. Rufe Reed was created by Frank Johnson (Bill Kenyon, Silent Orth) and appeared in a number of stories in Popular Detective, beginning with “Motto for Murder” (Popular Detective, June 1945).
Rufus “Rufe” Reed is a private investigator. He is “brilliant, headstrong, and erratic, and chafing at discipline.” He works closely with his college friend, Detective-Lieutenant Hogan of the local police.
