Red Triangle. The Red Triangle appeared in a number of stories in The Surprise in 1932, beginning with “The Seven Bloodhounds” (The Surprise, Mar. 5, 1932).
“The Red Triangle was an organization which seemed gifted with unnatural intelligence and cunning, which was fiendishly remorseless in handling its victims—and its crimes were hidden by those same victims for fear of further vengeance.” The Red Triangle is “a sect of the cleverest crooks that have ever been known.” The Night Hawk, its leader, is “dangerous to a degree.” Caleb the Hunchback is “full of malicious cunning.” And “the siren-like beauty of the Countess serves as a cloak for her uncanny craft and cool daring.”
