Red Knight. The Red Knight was created by John Welch and Jack McGuire and appeared in the comic strip “The Red Knight” (1940-1943).

The Red Knight is a Superhuman. The Red Knight was the first superhero created just for newspaper comic strips. Alan Knight, an ordinary man, is subjected to an experiment by Dr. Van Lear, who wants Knight to “carry your crusade against the forces of evil.” The experiment gives Knight “Plus Power,” which includes super-strength, super-speed, mind control, and invisibility. Knight puts on a suit of armor and uses his superpowers to fight crime. During a mission Knight is forced down near Fujiyama and does not have a change to recharge his powers. Knight loses his superpowers and becomes an ordinary secret agent.
