The Red Eagle is a Costumed Avenger. Captain Ted Blair is “The Red Eagle,” a masked air ace in World War One. He is a redheaded, steel-gray-eyed, handsome, scarred intelligence agent of G-2. He leads the “Eagle Brood” of the 44th Squadron: Lt. Sam Martin, Monty Rider, Spud Fallon, and Babe Deakin, who are “big-chested sky-scrapers who feared nothing except the tongue-lashing form their leader.” Blair flies a Spad decorated with rampant red eagles, has as a catchphrase “You can only die once,” and is opposed by Baron von Bleutz.
