Ravenhill, Anthony. Anthony Ravenhill was created by R. Francis Foster (Tom Glucken) and appeared in seven stories in a variety of magazines and seven novels and story collections from 1924 to 1931, beginning with The Missing Gates.

The British Anthony Ravenhill is “the special correspondent of ‘The Planet’ in matters of crime and mystery.” He is “one of the foremost unofficial crime investigators of the day” and has a “natural craving” for investigation. He works closely with the police and is usually successful, but in addition to his “marvelously logical” brain, he also has a part of his personality which looks on his investigation work with “fear and apprehension. It was this second part which held him up at times and delayed him in his work, put a human brake upon the machine which so rarely made a mistake.”
