Raphael, Louis. Louis Raphael was created by Augustus Muir and appeared in twelve stories which were collected in Raphael, M.D. (1935).

Dr. Louis Raphael is an eccentric genius. He was a leading West End doctor before retiring to study forensic medicine. He became the “greatest living expert in the scientific aspect of crime,” and is an unofficial advisor to Scotland Yard. He is wealthy and was educated in a monastery in North Africa before completing his studies at Cambridge. He is Watsoned by Meredith, his new, young personal secretary. Among Raphael’s opponents are a silver-masked stick-up man and a cocaine-smuggling gang.
