Ralston, Richard. Richard Ralston was created by Eugene Cunningham (Bar-Nothing Red AmesCleve Corby, Lance Craig, Gip Drago, Bob Land, Shelley, Ware) and appeared in five stories in Black Bat Detective in 1933 and 1934, beginning with “Death Threat” (Black Bat Detective, Nov. 1933).

Richard Ralston used to be a mercenary in Central America. Back then he was known as the “Hammer,” largely because of the strength of his blows. But he has left all that behind and become a private detective in San Francisco. However, his past often draws him south of the border, especially in pursuit of his old enemy Toomey, who only Ralston thinks is still alive.
