Protea. Protea was created by the Danish author Louis Møller (Leon Pitaval, Dr. Zigomar) and appeared in Protea, Den Kvindelige Forbryderchef #1-? (1917); the series was reprinted in Sweden in 1917 and in Finland in 1919.

Protea is the female leader of “the 13's Council,” a gang of thieves and bank robbers in Copenhagen. She is an enigma because of her master of disguise, and appears at various times as both man and woman, old and young, beautiful and ugly. She is "brave as a lion, cunning as a snake, and her boldness borders on the fantastic." Protea’s nemesis is the brilliant and courageous Detective Fox.
