Price, Jimmy. Jimmy Price was created by “John Jay Chichester,” the pseudonym of Christopher B. Booth (Jim Bliss, Amos Clackworthy, Gallopin’ Kid, Maxwell Sanderson) and appeared in The Porcelain Mask (1924), Bigamist (1925) and House of the Moving Room (1926).

Jimmy Price is a reporter for New York newspaper The Morning Star. He is known as “Wiggly” because “in moments of inner excitement or of strong emotion, Jimmy’s protuberant ears became animate objects.” Price’s despotic editor, Caleb Scoggins, has a grudge against Price’s ears, but Price is such an intrepid reporter that Scoggins can find no reason to fire him. The Lestrade who Price alternately irritates and helps is the brutish Sergeant Tish.
