Price, Bill. Bill Price was created by John P. Marquand (Mr. Moto) and appeared in four stories in The Saturday Evening Post in 1934, beginning with “Davy Jones” (The Saturday Evening Post, Mar. 3, 1934).
During the American Civil War Bill Price is a secret agent for the Union. He refuses the name of “spy,” however, for that is not “honorable.” His role is counter-espionage, foiling the plots of the Confederacy and of the foreign powers which are aligning with the Confederacy against the Union. In this role Price is active across the South and around the Caribbean. He is a skillful mimic and can as easily pretend to be from Richmond as from Liverpool.
