Posse, Inspector. Inspector Posse was created by Adrian Alington and appeared in The Vanishing Celebrities (1938) and The Amazing Test Match Crime (1939).

Inspector Posse works for Scotland Yard, where he is much admired and known as “Steady as a Rock” Posse. He is burly, mustached, and wears a bowler. He is confident and grim, and is conservative in his approach: “no cultured wise-cracks or dressing-gowns with green dragons for ‘Steady as a Rock’ Posse.” He has a thorough knowledge of the major figures of the London underworld.
