Poincare, Philip. Philip Poincare was created by William P. McGivern (Captain Stinky, Tink) and appeared in “Enchanted Bookshelf” (Fantastic Adventures, Mar. 1943) and “The Musketeers in Paris” (Fantastic Adventures, Feb. 1944).

In occupied Paris Philip Poincare buys a manuscript in a bookstore. The manuscript is Dumas’ original manuscript of The Three Musketeers. Poincare discovers that the manuscript contains the “ectoplasmic residue” of the historical Athos, Porthos, Aramis, and D’Artagnan. Centuries before they were on the verge of being hanged when Cardinal Richelieu had them entombed as a way to save them. By reading the manuscript Poincare breaks the spell upon the four. They quickly acclimate to Paris and begin fighting against the Germans.
