Poe, Christopher. Christopher Poe was created by Robert Carlton Brown (Paul van der Pool) and appeared in fifteen stories from 1910 to 1915, beginning with “In Simmy’s Cellar” (Pearson’s Magazine (U.S.), Aug. 1910); several of the stories were collected in The Remarkable Adventures of Christopher Poe (1913).
Christopher Poe is a clever and educated amateur detective. He is an expert in counterfeiting, which helps in those cases involving bad and funny money, but many of his cases involve the theft or smuggling of jewelry. He is active around the United States and in the great cities of Europe.
