Padre. The Padre was created by Richard Goyne (Dixon Hawke, Paul Templeton) and appeared in six novels from 1945 to 1954 beginning with Crime Philosopher.
The Padre, a.k.a. the Reverend Peter Eversleigh, is a Catholic priest described as “a modern Sherlock Holmes.” He is tall, slight, and handsome, with flashing dark eyes. He served as a padre in the Army in the “recent war” and returned with a D.S.O. and an anti-establishment and anti-Church doctrine attitude. He is a “psychologist with an uncanny ability for sizing people up.” With the aid of his wife Pamela he fights gangs, spies, traitors, and murderers.
