O’Rion, Plates. Plates O’Rion was created by “Dale Clark,” the pseudonym of Ronal Kayser (Ghostly Jones, Doc Judson, Mike O’Hanna, Highland Park Price), and appeared in nine stories in Dime Detective Magazine from 1942 to 1944, beginning with “Necktie Party” (Dime Detective Magazine, Nov. 1942).

Plates O’Rion is a retired newspaper photographer who specialized in legal photography. But despite his retirement he is continually drawn into solving crimes, largely because of his perky, good-looking, relentlessly inquisitive daughter Sally. O’Rion is a hard man, but she has him wrapped around her pinkie, and if she finds a crime to be solved she’ll make him solve it with her. O’Rion is a “pint-sized veteran” and talks his way out of fights, because he’s too small and too old to punch his way out of them.
