Ooka Echizen. Ooka Tadasuke (1677-1752) was a Japanese samurai, magistrate, and judge known for his incorruptibility and wisdom. Almost immediately after his death he began appearing in stories as “Ooka Echizen” (Echizen was the province Ooka was made governor of), and in the 20th century Ooka appeared in Japanese newspaper serials, kamishibai (stories for children told by wandering performers), television shows, and movies.
The fictional Ooka solves a wide variety of crimes and captures a wide range of criminals in historical Edo, including White Perils.
