Mustard, Buddy. Buddy Mustard was created by Roland Daniel (Jack Pearson, Al Tarpon, John Walk, Wu Fang (II)) and appeared in eighteen novels from 1941 to 1965, beginning with The Crawshay Jewel Mystery.

Buddy Mustard is a Canadian private detective active in England. He runs the Mustard Investigations Agency, with offices in Piccadilly. Mustard is assisted by the wise-cracking Alfred Hartley, who is unusually familiar with his boss—but as Mustard says, the Agency is “a bit of a mad family at times, but we always do our work for our clients.” Mustard himself is blunt, hard-drinking, cynical, and a womanizer.
