Mulligan, Douser. Douser Mulligan was created by Ray Bradbury and appeared in “Half-Pint Homicide” (Detective Tales, Nov. 1944) and “Four-Way Funeral” (Detective Tales, Dec. 1944).

Douser Mulligan is a Killer Vigilante. He used to be a Los Angeles policeman, but he was framed and lost his badge for being too flippant. He went into business as a private detective, but he doesn’t leave many criminals alive on cases. “Sometimes I don’t sleep nights worrying about the criminals walking free in this world. I get mad. Then I do things about it. I make sure a guy’s a real honest-to-god criminal, then I start clicking.” Mulligan is short, flippant, cheery, and very clever.
