Mortale, Salto (I). Salto Mortale (I) was created by “Wilhelm Franz,” the pseudonym of the German author Nikolaus von Dreyse, and appeared in Salto Mortale #1-31 (1937-1938).

Salto Mortale (I) is a circus acrobat who takes his name after the difficult and dangerous aerial somersault he has mastered. With his circus he finds adventure around the world. In one story the newest member of the circus is “Jaxa the ape-man.”

Mortale (I) appears in stories with titles like “Panther Hunting in Java,” “The Crocodile Man,” and “Rabaxa the Comanche.”
