Morrison, Tubby. Tubby Morrison was created by Stephen Payne (Blondy, Buck & Gumbo) and appeared in three stories in Lariat Story Magazine in 1926, beginning with “Tubby and the Breachy Bovine” (Lariat Story Magazine, Feb. 1926).
Tubby Morrison is a cowboy who has been working on ranches and busting broncs since he was six. Now he runs the Triangle A Ranch, although he is relatively new there. He uses modern slang like “I savvies” and “Mighty fine bunch, I decides, except for this seventh-cousin party and maybe this Gad-Fly Jensen. Whoever fastened th’ cognomen t’him was sure a genius.”
