Morel, Dr. Dr. Morel was created by the Argentinian author Adolfo Bioy Casares (Don Isidro Parodi) and appeared in La Invención de Morel (1940).

On a remote Pacific Island Dr. Morel creates a machine which is capable of capturing and reproducing reality, including self-aware human beings. This creation does not lead to happiness for those involved.
