Mirah, Si. Si Mirah (?-?) was a bandit and rebel in Java in the mid-18th century. She was known as the “lioness of Marunda.” Si Mirah became the lead character in a series of Indonesian ballads, poems, and stories from 1900 through the 1920s.

The fictional Si Mirah is a jago, a Gentleman Bandit based in the village of Marunda who uses her superior skill at martial arts to rob from the rich, give to the poor, and punish evil in ways that the Dutch colonial administrators would not.
