Meldrick, Gerald. Gerald Meldrick was created by the Mexican creator Jose G. Cruz (Adelita, Brenty, Juan Sin Miedo, Letty Lou, Monje Negro, Nancy) and appeared in the comic strip "Aventura en Oriente" (Pepín, Feb. 24-Mar 29, 1942). "Aventura en Oriente" is an unauthorized retelling and expansion of the Gable and Russell film They Met in the Orient (1942).
The comic strip Meldrick is an American Lupin who travels to Bombay to steal the Star of Asia from the Duchess of Beltravers, only to discover that another American thief, Anya von Duren, has arrived with a similar plan. The two steal the gem, outwit the police, flee to China, and help the English army fight against the Japanese.
