Masili, Juan. Juan Masili was created by the Filipino author Patricio Mariano and appeared in Juan Masili o ang Pinuno ng Tulisan (1906).

In the Philippines province of Torong, during the era of Spanish rule of the islands, Juan Masili is the leader of a gang of tulisanes (bandits). He bears a grudge against the Spanish, for one of them raped his mother when he was twelve. Masili plays the Robin Hood/Gentleman Bandit role, robbing from the rich/Spanish and giving to the poor/Filipinos, rescuing virginal beauties from the clutches of the depraved Spaniard Kapitan Ape, and generally carrying on a noble resistance against the Spanish oppressors.
