Martinus, Dr. Dr. Martinus was created by “Victor Rousseau,” a pseudonym of Victor Rousseau Emmanuel (Jim Anthony, Ivan Brodsky, Clifford, Ronald Gowan, Phileas Immanuel, King of Knaves, King’s Courier, Professor MacBeard, Isabel Marston, Pennell, Shawm, Thorne, Mr. X) and appeared in six stories in Ghost Stories in 1926 and 1927, beginning with “Child or Demon–Which?” (Ghost Stories, Oct. 1926).
Dr. Martinus is a Superhuman Occult Detective. He is a psychic researcher, investigating a variety of ghosts, possession, and other psychic phenomena. He has various psychic powers, which prove useful during his cases. He is brusque and impatient with dabblers. Martinus is a Dutchman living in New York and Watsoned by newspaper reporter Eugene Branscombe.
