Mammoths. The Mammoths were created by the French author Luc d’Alberny and appeared in Le Mammouth Bleu (1935).

A Basque scientist and speleologist discovers, deep underneath the Pyrenees, a continent-sized cavern in which a Lost Race of intelligent mammoths survive and thrive. They speak Basque and are ruled over by the “Blue Mammoth,” the “King of the World.” There are other Lost Race civilizations in this cavern, including centaurs, but the speleologist has a broken heart and refuses to stay in the cavern.
