Mad Scientist (I). Mad Scientist (I) was created by James Oliver Curwood (Jim Falkner, Kazan, Philip Steele) and Francis J. Grandon and appeared in the film The Fifth Man (1914).
Mad Scientist (I) is a Mad Scientist. He has a lab in the jungles of Central America in which he experiments (both Dr. Moreau-style and “The World’s Most Dangerous Game”-style) on test subjects, animal and human. Into this unfortunate set-up stumbles John Gaunt, an American looking for gold. Fights with animals, the Scientist’s insane African assistant, and the Scientist himself follow.
