Mackbey, William. William Mackbey was created by the Italian author Tancredi Scarpelli and appeared in William Mackbey, il Poliziotto Giustiziere #1-50 (1932-1933).

William Mackbey is a hard-boiled private detective working in America. He says, of himself, “In my career I have always tried to do justice and to serve the truth, not men.” In his final appearance he is left millions in the will of a dead socialite who decrees that whoever solves his assassination will receive his wealth. Mackbey does, and gets the money.

Mackbey appears in stories with titles like “The Miser’s Treasure,” “The Elusive Serum,” and “The Tragic Truth.”
