Lucas, Lazy. Lazy Lucas was created by Galen Colin (Tug Burton, Storm King, Lum Yates) and appeared in ten stories in Top-Notch Magazine in 1932 and 1933, beginning with “Lazy Lucas” (Top-Notch Magazine, Feb. 15, 1932).

Lazy Lucas is a serene-looking and lazy-acting cowpuncher who hates the dreary routine of ranch life. “Only the call of excitement, danger or mystery could spur him out of his indolent manner.” Barry Hildreth of the Cattlemen’s Association knows this and hires Lucas as a roving range detective.
