Lubineski. Lubineski was created by “Jules Van Dam,” the pseudonym of the Dutch author Jacques Presser (Marabesco, Psychic Detective, Gregor Stadelman), and appeared in Onder Hypnose #1-24 (1921-1922).

Lubineski is a Superhuman modeled on George Du Maurier’s Svengali. Onder Hypnose begins as a rewriting of Du Maurier’s Trilby (1894), with Lubineski as Svengali and Anny Marengo as a more innocent Trilby, but moves into more fantastic territory fairly quickly. He appears in stories with titles like “A Terrifying Invention,” “The Blood-Red Flame,” and “The Swamp of Death.”
