Lisle, Lila. Lila Lisle was created by “Adelie Ascott,” the pseudonym of John William Bobin (Derrick Brent, Don Darrel, Valerie Drew, Sylvia Silence, Top-Gear Tempest), and appeared in seven stories in Schoolgirls’ Own from 1930 to 1933, beginning with “The Mystery of Marjory Ware” (Schoolgirls’ Own, 1930).
Lila Lisle is “the Girl Problem Investigator,” a stylish English consulting detective. She is slim, with “shingled red-gold hair,” and is skillful and smart as an investigator. She is assisted by a monkey.
