Lavond, Paul. Paul Lavond was created by Tod Browning (Professor Burke, The Legion of Death) and appeared in the film The Devil-Doll (1936).

Paul Lavond is a banker who was wrongly convicted of a crime and sent to prison. In prison he befriends the Mad Scientist Marcel, who has discovered a way to miniaturize human beings. Unfortunately, the process causes brain damage and leaves its victims susceptible to mind-control. This suits Lavond’s purposes, and he escapes from prison with Lavond and returns to Paris to take his revenge on those who put him away.
