Lancey, Sergeant. Sergeant Lancey was created by L. Patrick Greene (Tabu Dick, Dynamite Drury, The Major, Commissioner Sykes, Trooper Useless) and appeared in nineteen stories in a variety of magazines and three story collections from 1919 to 1947, beginning with “The Guardian of the Gate” (All-Story Weekly, Oct. 4, 1919).

Sergeant Lancey is a veteran of the Rhodesian Mounted Police. Before joining the Mounted he wandered the world as an adventurer. Between those experiences, and his years with the Mounted, he is a seasoned, experienced soldier, and so when young troopers are sent to Lancey’s outstation he gives them the final training they will need.
