Lamont, Sheriff. Sheriff Lamont was created by “Anson Hard,” the pseudonym of W.C. Harding (Crawley Cool), and appeared in a number of stories in The Lone Ranger Magazine in 1937, beginning with “Trader in Lead” (The Lone Ranger Magazine, July 1937).

Sheriff Lamont is a gawky teenaged redhead somewhere in the American southwest. After his father, a sheriff, is killed, Lamont tracks down his father’s murderer and avenges his father’s death. Lamont is then made sheriff, despite only being a teenager. He is a good shot and a good tracker.
