Koski, Steve. Steve Koski was created by “Stewart Sterling,” the pseudonym of Prentice Winchell (Jim Big-Knife, Johnny Hi Gear, Eric Lewis, Vince Mallie, Ben Pedley, Special Squad), and appeared in eight stories in a variety of pulps from 1943 to 1953, beginning with “Down Among the Dead Men” (Two Complete Detective Books, Nov. 1943).

Steve Koski is a “rugged, weather-bronzed” lieutenant for the N.Y.P.D. He is hard-boiled and works plainclothes for the Marine Division, focusing on crime in the harbor and on the docks.
