Knowles, Colin. Colin Knowles was created by Roger East and appeared in Murder Rehearsal (1933), Twenty-Five Sanitary Inspectors (1935), and Detectives in Gum Boots (1936).

Colin Knowles is an English writer of mysteries who takes his books and plots seriously enough to apply what he knows, or thinks he knows, to solving crimes as an amateur detective. He assists and is assisted by Simmonds, a pessimistic, heavily-built Scotland Yard detective who retires to become an amateur crime-solver.
