Kleschna, Leah. Leah Kleschna was created by C.M.S. McLellan and appeared in the play Leah Kleschna (1904); the play was made into a film in 1913.

Leah Kleschna is the daughter of Kleschna, a French master thief, and Leah has been taught everything her father knows about crime since she was a child. Leah is caught in the act of robbing the safe of Paul Sylvain, but Sylvain does not turn her over to the police. Instead he gently reproves her, for which she falls in love with him and explains that it was her father’s fault that she turned to crime. Raoul Berton, the brother of Sylvain’s fiancee, Claire Berton, steals the jewels that Leah had tried to steal, and Sylvain blames Leah. Leah steals the jewels from Raoul Berton, gives them to Sylvain, and leaves Paris. Sylvain eventually finds Leah and proposes marriage to her, which he accepts.
